In perusing through some of my old photos, I found some there where a bit interesting to me, and I hope you enjoy them for what they are worth.

As previously explained, I first started taking pictures when I was about 9. My father gave me a Uniflex I twin reflex medium format camera to play around. The majority of my photographs where simple photo's of my family from various trips that we went on.

These photographs mean quite a bit to me. One reason is that they are a record of my childhood, but another reason that means more to me now then back then, is that they show a little bit of insight into the photographs that I would capture later on.

Unknown Vistas

"Unknown Vistas"

Named so because I do not know where I took this photograph.

"Autumn Storm"

I just love how the clouds, mountains, and twilight combine to set an ominous tone in this early photograph.

I don't remember if that was the effect that I originally was going for, but I love the effect none the less.

Mountain Marmot

I am not a good wild life photographer. The only reason is due to my complete inability to track an animal, and sneak up on it. Additionally, wild life photography requires a lot more lens than available to me.

"Mirror Lake"

I believe that this is a photograph from a horse pack trip into Lena Lake. Lena Lake is nestled in the Bob Marshal Wilderness in Montana.

Molten Twins

These two lava column were found in "Crater's of the Moon" park in Idaho.

"Bird on a Wire"

I am not exactly sure what prompted me to take this photograph, but I think is rather interesting in its' own right.

What is in a Name?

"What is in a Name?"

What boy with the last name of Rathbun could possibly pass up this opportunity?

This photograph in general is nothing special at all, but when one has to drive from California to Montana and finds his name on a sign it can be quite and event. And who would not want a gulch named after their family?

And check out the 'family truckster' in the background! You can't tell from the black and white, but that bad boy is Powder Blue. Only in the 70's.
